Highlight of the Card
The sixth race on tonight’s eight event card - The Retravision Online Pace (2130m) - is shaping as the highlight of the night at Gloucester Park.
Most of the contestants are well-credentialled and respected types, racing consistently in metropolitan grade.
Courage Tells is perhaps the best placed of these, coming off some exceptional form in recent starts.
He was last seen slicing through late when finishing fourth behind stablemate and the FFA-bound Saying Grace.
And Courage Tells is well served by the pole with leading reinsman Ryan Warwick certain to attempt an all-the-way victory.
If granted an uncontested lead he would certainly prove the testing material.
However, plenty will depend on the early intentions of Chris Lewis aboard Touch Of Success, a horse who is renowned for his blistering early pace and may come out charging from gate two.
With an eight-horse field and no second line, Lewis also has the option to drop on to the back of Courage Tells.
Red Hot Roxy, drawn in gate six, is another who could chance her arm early with Gary Hall Jr aboard.
She recently trialled at Byford, defeating the promising Liberty Rose and open-class performer Tommy Be Good in a blazing 56.9sec last half.
Red Hot Roxy has failed to fire at her two official performances this time in, but looks to have recaptured her best.
If these runners were to set an unsustainable early speed, the likes of Good Times Ahead (gate three), Mighty Flying Thomas (four), Ohoka Darcy ( five) and Bettor Be Lively (seven) all come into calculations in an open race.
