Memories of Waroona horseman Nigel Johns preparing grey mare All Flair for her eleven wins in her 171-start career earlier this century were revived when he drove five-year-old Victorian-bred chestnut mare Luvaflair to victory in the Hoist Torque Australia Trot at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Luvaflair is the only progeny produced by All Flair, and she now has earned $141,231 from 15 wins (eight at Gloucester Park and seven at Pinjarra) and 27 placings.

All Flair’s dam Flair produced nine winners, including Compressor, an outstanding trotter who was trained for much of his career by Johns before being retired with earnings of $221,026 from 25 wins and 60 placings.

Luvaflair was the $8 third favourite from barrier five in Friday night’s 2536m mobile event in which she raced four back on the pegs and was saved for a late burst by Johns, who got her to the front 220m from home after That’s Not My Gait ($5) had taken the lead from Sky Eagle 200m earlier.

Bromwich, the $1.45 favourite, was distanced after he galloped badly when attempting to wrest the lead from Sky Eagle 150m after the start.
