Veteran pacer Cordero made the most of a considerable drop in class to give a strong performance to end a losing sequence of 14 by scoring a convincing victory in the 2130m Where’s The Butler Bond Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
Owned and trained by Trevor Wright, Cordero was the $2.20 favourite from the No. 2 barrier, and Deni Roberts drove confidently in the breeze outside the $8 chance Gee Smith before sending Cordero to the front 350m from home on his way to beating $23 chance American Bullitt by just over a length at a 1.57.9 rate.
The WA-0bred Cordero is by American stallion Western Terror and is out of former brilliant Safely Kept mare Innocent Eyes, who amassed $421,875 from 18 wins and 17 placings from 62 starts.
Cordero has earned $176,678 from 13 wins and 28 placings from 117 starts.
