Lightly-raced pacer Acharne Girl remains unbeaten in her current campaign of three outings, and she is developing into a strong candidate for the upcoming rich feature events for mares, the group 3 Schrader Pace (October 20), the group 2 Norms Daughter Classic (November 10) and the group 1 $150,000 Mares Classic (November 24).

Acharne Girl, prepared by Gary Hall Snr, has improved considerably this year, winning at eight of her eleven starts as a four-year-old.

“She was really good and strong tonight,” said reinsman Gary Hall Jnr after her impressive victory in the $27,000 Oyster King Jerry Fraser Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Acharne Girl, the $1.60 favourite, was restrained to the rear from barrier seven before Hall sent her forward, with a three-wide burst 1050m from home. The pace was being set by $17 chance Queeninthecorner, and Dontbesillychilli was sent to the front by Dylan Egerton-Green with 700m to travel before Acharne Girl gained the upper hand 250m later and went on to beat the strong-finishing $13 chance Stormyskyes by a half-length, rating 1.58.1 over 2130m.

“I wasn’t particularly worried by last week’s narrow win (beating Beyond The Sea by a head), but it is always a little concern when a horse gets so close to you,” said Hall. “Acharne Girl was good tonight and is on target for the big races for mares.”

The WA-bred Acharne Girl has earned $133,564 from nine wins and five placings from 22 starts.
