Alta Cinderella, a big, long-striding mare, is gradually maturing and developing into a more tractable five-year-old after being a temperamental pacer when she overraced for much of her early career.

At her second appearance after a spell, she was a hot $1.20 favourite from the prized No. 1 barrier in the 2536m Garrard’s Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night, and she gave champion reinsman Gary Hall Jnr a comparatively easy time when she set a solid pace and won comfortably by three lengths from $23 chance Allwoods Rocknroll.

“She led easily and bowled along,” said Hall. “She looked like she could’ve been in some trouble late, but when I went for her, she ran away from them.”

Alta Cinderella, prepared by Gary Hall Snr, has now earned $70,011 from ten wins and four placings from 22 starts, and she should develop into one of the main contenders for the rich feature events for mares in November.

By Alta Christiano, Alta Cinderella is out of the Art Major mare Funzover, who raced 34 times for eight wins, ten placings and stakes of $53,938. She was driven by Hall Jnr at two of her wins.
