The Fremantle Cup, a prestigious Group 1 race worth $300,000, holds a significant place in Western Australia’s harness racing history. Formerly the flagship event of the Fremantle Harness Racing Club, Gloucester Park proudly continues the rich tradition and legacy of this race.
First run in 1928, the event began as a standing start at Richmond before transitioning to a mobile start from 1983 to 1991. In 1991, the Fremantle Cup was relocated to Gloucester Park, where it briefly reverted to a standing start before returning to the mobile start format in 2011.
