Champion reinsman Gary Hall Jnr landed his 200TH winner for the season when Blameitonthenight romped to an effortless victory in the 2130m De Campo’s Golden Trifecta Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

The 41-year-old Hall has exceeded 100 winners in a season in 19 consecutive seasons, and he is firmly on target to set a personal record in 2023. His best seasons have been in 2019-20 (252 winners), 2012-13 (241), 2022 (237) and 2021 (226).

Blameitonthenight, a New Zealand-bred four-year-old, was a hot $1.04 favourite on Friday night when he set the pace from the No. 2 barrier and after a final 400m of 28.5sec. he won beat $15 third fancy Walsh by four lengths, rating 1.57.7.

Blameitonthenight, trained by Gary Hall Snr, completed a treble for Hall Jnr, and improved the Bettors Delight gelding’s record to 16 starts for five wins and five placings for earnings of $48,398.

“It was easy to look good against opposition like that,” said Hall Jnr. “He hit the cart a few times and got a bit keen. I think he will mature into a nice horse but still has a bit to learn.”

Blameitonthenight raced twelve times in New Zealand for two wins (at his first two starts, in October 2021) and his four WA starts have produced three wins and a second placing.

He is the sixth foal out of the Christian Cullen mare Gotta Go Harmony after her first five foals were fillies. Gotta Go Harmony had 22 starts for four wins, eight placings and $205,909. Winners she has produced include Gotta Go Jazzy Jet (31 starts for 12 wins, nine placings and $81,347), Gotta Go Dali Queen (31 starts for eight wins, four placings and $86,691) and My Harmony Blue (46 starts for seven wins, 20 placings and $106,553).

Gotta Go Harmony’s dam Elect To Live amassed $577,992 from 19 wins, six placings from 35 starts. She won two group 1 feature events for two-year-old fillies in May 2001, and in 2002 she won two more group 1 classics, the Great Northern Oaks at Alexandra Park and the New Zealand Oaks at Addington.
