WA-bred five-year-old Infinite Sign is following in the footsteps of his elder full-brother Infinite Symbol, and at Gloucester Park on Friday night he proved too speedy for his rivals when he led and won comfortably from Let It Linga in the 2130m Baking For Brodie Pace.
Infinite Sign, trained by David Young and driven by Aiden De Campo, began speedily from the No. 5 barrier and got to the front after 100m with a smart lead time of 36.7sec.
Infinite Sign, a $9 chance, then was not fully extended in running quarters of 30.2sec., 30.1sec., 28.2sec. and 29.8sec.
“He is a bold frontrunner and got the job done well,” said De Campo. “But he is also a funny horse who lugged out just after release point. But then he mustered well, and I was happy once he got to the front. He has above average ability but still has a lot to learn.”
Infinite Sign is by Indomitable Saab, who earned $154,491 from 16 wins and 12 placings from 59 starts and is the second foal out of Never Waver Lombo, who raced 79 times for 11 wins, 20 placings and $109,662.
Never Waver Lombo’s first foal Infinite Symbol has had 132 starts for 31 wins, 39 placings and stakes of $298,043. Infinite Symbol won 14 times in WA before travelling to America where he has won another 17 races.
Infinite Sign has had 37 starts for 11 wins, six placings and $92,248. His younger full-brother Infinite Merit has won once from his nine starts and will contest the first event at Gloucester Park on Tuesday afternoon.
