Mr Sundon is a fractious trotter who gave a remarkable performance to win, second-up after an eight-month absence, when he galloped badly moments after the mobile start and settled down in ninth position about 15 lengths behind the leader The Male Model at Pinjarra on Monday of last week.

The stewards then ruled that Mr Sundon be penalised by starting outside the draw in future events until his manners improved.

Mr Sundon, trained by Ross Olivieri and to be driven by Chris Lewis, will start from the outside barrier (No. 9) in the $18,000 Catalano Truck And Equipment Hire Trot over 2536m at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Lewis will be anxious to get Mr Sundon into a trot, and if the New Zealand-bred seven-year-old is on his best behaviour he should prove too strong for his rivals, who include the improving mare Tears Of Joy and No Republic, who will be resuming after a spell.

Tears Of Joy is the first square gaiter to be prepared by Aiden de Campo, and she has impressed in winning at her past two starts. She led and defeated My Mdina at Gloucester Park before making much of the running and beating Line The Starzzz at Pinjarra on Monday afternoon.

The Nathan Turvey-trained No Republic will be having her first start since she had a tough run and finished a well-beaten second to Luvaflair in a 2503m stand at Gloucester Park on June 22. The former Victorian trotter had won at her two previous outings, at Gloucester Park and Pinjarra, after arriving in WA in May this year.
