Hopeland trainer Debra Lewis produced Robbie Easton in superb condition for his return to racing after an eight-month absence when the New Zealand-bred seven-year-old crushed his ten rivals in the 1730m Team Bond Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Robbie Easton was the $3.30 favourite from the prized No. 1 barrier and Chris Lewis, husband of the trainer, got the gelding away brilliantly before he set a brisk pace and dashed over the final 800m in 56.7sec. to win by three lengths from $81 outsider Disco Under Fire, who ran home strongly from fifth on the pegs at the bell.

Robbie Easton, who rated 1.55, has done all his racing in Western Australia and has earned $118,374 from 12 wins and 17 placings from 58 starts.

“That was a pretty soft field and, hopefully, he will improve a bit and wins some more races,” said Robbie Easton’s owner Mark Lewis.

“He had a few foot issues, quarter cracks, so we decided to give him some time off so he could get over his problems.”
