Six of WA-bred pacer Seeryanfly’s latest seven wins have been in stands, but star reinsman Shannon Suvaljko insists that the five-year-old is a highly capable performer in mobile events.

Seeryanfly will start from the No. 1 barrier in the 2536m Vale Dulcie Brindley Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night, and Suvaljko is confident that he will prove hard to beat.

“He is a good mobile horse,” he said. “He has good gate speed, and he showed his liking for the mobile when he ran second, first-up, in his preparation to Goodfellaz in the San Simeon Pace in August.

“Seeryanfly will also love the 2500m, and he gets his chance this week from barrier one in a good field. He’s up to the others and is a good chance.

“Last week (when he started off 20m and finished seventh behind Carana) he just couldn’t get into the race in which he got home in 56.9sec. He ran the fastest final 400m (28.55sec.).”

Valentines Brook and Ima Fivestar General look the testing material in what should develop into a spirited battle, and the reappearance after a spell of Otis adds further spice to the race.

Suvaljko is also bullish about the prospects of the Kevin Charles-trained Whos The Dad in the 2130m Taste Of WA Pace, in which he is favourably drawn at barrier No. 2. Whos The Dad extended his losing sequence to nine when he finished third behind Getyn Wiggy Withit and Callmewhatuwant over 1730m last Friday night.

“Whos The Dad got caught in the breeze, and the winner went 1.54.2,” said Suvaljko. “He should fight out the finish this week.” His main danger is likely to be veteran pacer Rockaball, who impressed when he charged home from the rear to finish an eye-catching fourth, a nose behind Whos The Dad last week.
