Figures alone indicate that Tenzing Bromac is one of the State’s best four-year-olds and capable of a strong effort in the $200,000 Golden Nugget next Friday night.
After unlucky unplaced performances at his previous two outings, Tenzing Bromac, prepared by leading trainers Greg and Skye Bond, bounced back with a tough victory in the 1730m SEFS The Asset Finance Specialists pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
He was the $2.40 favourite from barrier five, with noted frontrunner Vivere Damore a $2.50 second fancy from the prized No. 1 barrier. Vivere Damore withstood a strong early challenge from the $5.50 chance Blitzembye, who gained the one-out, one-back trail after Ryan Warwick sent Tenzing Bromac to the breeze after the Bettors Delight gelding had raced three wide for the first 350m.
Vivere Damore, driven by Mitch Miller, sped over the third 400m section of the final mile in 27.4sec. before she began to fade, with Warwick sending Tenzing Bromac to the front with 115m to travel.
Tenzing Bromac went on to win by a nose from $21 chance Fifty Five Reborn, who was last in the field of six for most of the way before finishing with a powerful burst. The final 400m was covered in 28.5sec. and Tenzing Bromac rated 1.55.1.
Tenzing Bromac, who had finished at the rear behind Pinny Tiger in the Group 1 Four-Year-Old Classic the previous Friday night when his chances were wrecked after receiving a punctured sulky tyre, won once from two New Zealand starts, and his 15 runs in WA have produced eleven wins and two second placings.
