Lightly-raced New Zealand-bred five-year-old Tenzing Bromac is joining talented stablemates Minstrel, Patronus Star, Vampiro, Galactic Star, Steel The Show and Himself as a contender in the $450,000 TABtouch WA Pacing Cup on November 10.

Tenzing Bromac impressed at his second appearance after a four-month absence when he scored a splendid victory in the 2536m TAB Radio Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Driven for the first time by Kyle Symington, Tenzing Bromac, trained by Greg and Skye Bond, was the $1.90 favourite, and he gave a strong staying performance to race without cover and win by a neck from the fast-finishing $18 chance Kimble.

“Tenzing Bromac will keep making his way through the grades, and if he steps up, he will go for the Cups (WA Pacing Cup and Fremantle Cup) in the summer,” said Mrs Bond.

“Unfortunately, Mighty Conqueror will miss the big races. He fractured a hock after a gallop at home the other day, and he faces a reasonably long rehab process. He had come back recently with two awesome seconds (behind Magnificent Storm and Shockwave) followed by a win (beating Patronus Star) a month ago.”

Mighty Conqueror won the WA Pacing Cup in January 2020 when he defeated stablemates Vampiro and Our Jimmy Johnstone, and he has a wonderful record of 62 starts for 22 wins, 17 placings and stakes of $691,653.

Tenzing Bromac began from barrier four on Friday night and settled down in fifth place before surging forward, three wide, in the first lap to move to the breeze outside the pacemaker and $2.20 second fancy Moonlite Drive.

Tenzing Bromac then applied considerable mid-race pressure on Moonlite Drive before taking a clear lead 270m from home and going to win in fine style at a 1.58.4 rate over 2536m, with final quarters of 27.8sec. and 28.3sec.

“Kyle drove Tenzing Bromac perfectly,” said Mrs Bond. “He is a progressive and talented young driver, and it is great to have a junior we can put on and have confidence in.”

Tenzing Bromac is by Bettors Delight and is the fifth foal out of Tallulah Bromac, who was retired after two unplaced efforts at Manawatu in October 2010. Tenzing Bromac raced twice as a three-year-old in New Zealand for a win at Addington in March 2021, and his 23 starts in WA have produced 13 wins and seven placings, boosting his earnings to $156,973.

Tenzing Bromac’s eight-year-old full-brother Tennyson Bromac has earned $167,336 from 18 wins (four in New Zealand and 14 in Queensland) from 83 starts.
