With one win from his previous 52 starts and just one placing from his past 16 starts, veteran pacer Whoswhointhezoo was set the task of leading and attempting to improve his poor winning record of six per cent when he lined up at the No. 2 barrier in the 2130m Streamer.com.au Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

The stable plan was to set the pace. But when Whoswhointhezoo, a $6.60 chance, lacked sparkle at the start and quickly dropped back to sixth while Jamie Rigoli had burst to the front with $8.50 hope Ultimate Rocker, Deni Roberts did not panic and was happy to maintain the nine-year-old’s position in sixth place until Chris Voak dashed forward with Tinseltown, three wide, approaching the bell.

Roberts then followed Tinseltown in the final lap with Whoswhointhezoo, one of the State’s biggest pacers, forging to the front in the home straight to go on and win by a length from the $4.20 favourite Tellmetoattack, who was tenth at the bell and finished with a powerful burst, out very wide.

Whoswhointhezoo is a veteran of 166 starts for 11 wins, 47 placings and stakes of $174,011. He is bred, owned and trained by Karen Thompson, and is by American stallion Major In Art and is the second foal out of Live Or Die mare Art And Soul, who won seven minor events at Globe Derby and one at Gawler in a 71-start career.

Art And Soul’s first and only other foal, bred by Mrs Thompson, earned $133,594 from 16 wins and 27 placings from 96 starts.
